ABOUT ME

Welcome to my portfolio! My name is Jonathan Thomas and I was born and raised in Auburn, AL until I was 8 years old. My family and I then moved to Berry, AL where I attended high school and was involved in many activities such as football, basketball, and academic clubs. I graduated from high school in 2016 and went on to attend college at Belhaven University where I received a full ride scholarship for football. My end goal was to transfer to Auburn University and become an elementary education major. My love for Auburn began as a toddler watching Auburn sports with my dad. As a child, my favorite thing to do was watch the Auburn Tigers play at Jordan Hare. I was eustatic to receive the news that I had been accepted into the Auburn University Elementary Education program and could pursue my dream of becoming an elementary teacher.

     TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

The number one reason that I want to teach is because I love working with children. From my many experiences, I understand how important and impactful educators are in the lives of their students. I believe every student has the right to a free and equitable education. My personal identity should never have a negative effect on a student.

In my opinion, every aspect of teaching should be relatable to each and every student. This helps to ensure that everyone in my classroom is granted the access to optimal education. As an educator, I should extend my influence beyond the classroom. This includes the school, community, state, nation, and world.

As a teacher, I will strive to support and enlight the young minds of my students. I will provide a judgemental free classroom that will adhere to the diversity of each student. It will be my responsibility as an educator to ensure each and every student is put in the best position to be successful.
